Foothills Quilters Guild meets monthly at Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby. The members come together to share their love of quilting. They are here to learn, teach and encourage anyone who also shares that love. The group gladly welcomes new members from Shelby and surrounding areas.
Busy hands, happy hearts, and loving souls. That triad of virtues is a good way to describe the work that goes on every day at Cleveland Vocational Industries, Inc. (CVII) located at 650 N. Post Rd., Shelby.
CVII's motto "We believe that all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are defined by their own strengths, abilities and inherent value...not their disability", defines the work that goes on there and serves as a guidepost for its mission of uplifting, educating, and employing folks with a wide range of physical and mental challenges to be the best they can be.
There are around 10,000 taste buds on the human tongue and when they get hit with Lickety Lew's Boo Yow Sauce every one of them will stand up and take notice.
The Banker's House is getting a new roof! This is the first complete renovation of the roof since the house was first constructed in 1874-75.
"It's amazing that the original roof has lasted this long," says Banker's House Executive Director Carolyn Jackson. "This just shows the quality and durability that was crafted into every aspect of this house."
