Aside from rain shortening the day long festivities, nothing dampened this year’s Kings Mountain annual BeachBlast. There were lots of musical entertainment, a ferris wheel, dancing, free watermelon and vendors offering an array of diversified items.
Each week we reward one of our readers with $100. This week, we congratulate our “Lucky Reader of the Week”, Michael Southards. We spotted Michael picking up his copy of Shelby Shopper & Info at the Western Sizzlin Steak House in Shelby.
Folks from all over the area enjoyed bluegrass bands, wine tastings, a craft show and several other activities at this year’s WoodMill Winery festival.

Mr. Junior “J.C.” Cleveland Buff, 88, of Casar, NC, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010. Services were held at Pisgah Baptist Church, Casar. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
