On Friday, December 14th, outside Central United Methodist Church in Uptown Shelby, the Church’s handbell ringers filled the air with Christmas carols. A crowd gathered and hot cocoa was served as Danny Buckner, Director of Music Ministries at Central led the ringers.
Burns High School held this year’s concert at New Beginnings Christian Church in Fallston on Thursday, December 13th. The church, which holds 500, invited the school to hold their event at their church, as Burns does not have an auditorium.

When tragedy strikes, as it did in Newtown Connecticut this past week, we are drawn to churches and ministers. We are looking for consolation and we are looking for answers.

The retirees fished Lake Norman last with David O’Shields and J R Henry taking the win with 8.90. They also had big bass with a 3.10 largemouth. Ronnie Humphries brought in 7.45 and claimed second and third with 5.80 was John Black and Roger McNeilly.
Timing is everything. Have you ever just felt like you were out of sync with what was going on in the woods or on the water? Sometimes it seems that on the days that you can go fishing, the weather is terrible or the fish are uncooperative.
Congratulations to the 1997 Rutherford Rumble Team, coached by Richey Barkley. The soccer team had a great season. They went 8-0 in the regular season and placed second in their division at the Norcross Nike Cup in Atlanta, GA.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting.
