Barbara “Daphine” Maness, age 53, of Mooresboro, NC, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
Wilda Dorsey Haskell, 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at White Oak Manor in Spartanburg.
On June 11, 2013, William “Clark” Hamrick went to his heavenly home to rest. He died at his Lawrenceville, Georgia home cared for by his loving wife Martha and his favorite cat, Sassy.
Mr. William Zeno White of Polkville, a native of Cleveland County, went to meet his Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Hospice at Wendover.

The Kosa retirees fished last week for the first time in about two weeks. They fished on Lake Wylie. Tony Black and Ned Blanton come out of hibernation and this time they picked up the win with 10.15. Ronnie Humphries grabbed second with 8.90, he also had the big bass of the day with a 2.90 largemouth. David O’Shields and Mack Wyatt settled in third with 7.50. This week the retirees head back to Lake Norman.
I get in sort of a flux this time of year. I don’t know whether to fish, scout, shoot my bow, or stop it all until I get the yard and the house as momma would have it. But if I stop it all I really become an irritable guy. Maybe I could just call these trips therapy and get by with an occasional excursion. It is impossible to do it all.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome.

Adelaide Austell Craver’s covered desk at First National Bank is indicative of her constant giving and involvement in her native Cleveland County. She served on untold community committees and always tried to achieve good for her county and state.
The Shelby Lions Club has recognized member Jim Collis as Lion of the year. He has been a Lion since 1982, and has served in several capacities. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors, and works with the White Cane, Membership, and Vending Distribution Committee.

This is the time of year, that Vacation Bible Schools are held throughout Cleveland County. First Baptist Church of Shelby, held their VBS this week, July 14-July 18. They have hosted over 125 youngsters.
