Roy Lee Robbins, beloved husband, father, grandfather and resident of Forest City, NC went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
The retirees fished Lake Wylie week before last and the streak is over. David O’Shields and Doug Sparrow knocked the 15 time champs off the top spot as they brought in 8.0. John Black and Roger McNeely (the 15 time champs mentioned above) were second with 3.0 and Fred Wright and Dean Champion took third with 2.8. Big bass was a 3.2 largemouth brought in by O’Shields and Sparrow.
One of my favorite creations in our world is that thing we call a “day.” You know, that 24 hours that comes to an end, only to begin another 24 hours. Now I know it doesn’t take much to intrigue me but this has always been something that I have given thought to. And if you think about it, it is one of the most refreshing things about life.

The children’s Ministry of Second Baptist Church, 120 Linwood Road, Kings Mountain, NC is inviting children age 12 and under, along with their parents or caretakers to a free and safe alternative to trick or treat on Halloween.
Halloween Music Benefit for Local Cancer Patient
Ronno Cooke, a local teacher and artisan, was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. His friends and family are having a two day music festival to help him with medical expenses. The event will feature over 15 local and regional bands including David Via and Corn Tornado, Rush and Roger Padgett, The Wright Family, South Mountain Ramblers, The Ya Yas, and Rooster. A one day pass is $15 and two day passes are $25. Camping is encouraged and included with a two day pass unless you need full hook-ups for an R.V. Friday and Saturday, November 1- 2. October 15, 2013 was a day that many of Shelby High School’s music students will not soon forget. That evening, along with Pan Jive and the Shelby Middle School 8th Grade Chorus, the Shelby High Percussion Ensemble and Chorus embers took Malcolm Brown Auditorium by a cultural storm!
The Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center will be honoring senior veterans (age 55 and better) and their families on Thursday, November 7, 2013 doors will open at 11:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
