Versie Ward Spangler, 91, of Shelby, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Hospice at Wendover.

In mid-November, Special Olympics Cleveland County Flag Football team attended the 24th Annual NIRSA Mid-Atlantic Regional Flag Football Classic at the University of Maryland.

Friendship United Methodist Church & Fallston Baptist Church
The combined choirs of Friendship United Methodist Church & Fallston Baptist Church will present the musical drama “Christmas Shoes”. The musical will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church, 111 Friendship Dr., Fallston, NC on the following dates Saturday, December 21, 6:00pm and Sunday, December 22, 3:00pm. The event is free & open to all. Please bring non-perishable food items to help stock local food pantries.
Shelby Parks & Recreation
Join Shelby Parks & Recreation and see their Christmas lights that are along Dorton Drive at Shelby City Park and extend from Thompson Gardens down past the Carrousel. The lights and inflatables will be available to the public free of cost from dusk-10pm through January 1st, 2014. The Carrousel will be in operation Friday & Saturday 1:00-5:00pm and Sunday 1:30-5:00pm at $.50 a ride!
The Lincolnton Lions Club and Lizzie Lu’s Gift Shop are sponsoring a book signing and fundraiser on Saturday, December 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lizzie Lu’s Gift Shop, 233 East Main Street in Downtown Lincolnton.
The Winter Exhibit in the Cleveland County Memorial Library Gallery features the interesting photography of artist-photographer, Karin Mullins. The show opens December 5 and will be on display now through January 31, 2014.
